Eravikulam National Park: By driving north from Munnar for 30 minutes and then hiking a few kilometers, you reach this sanctuary which is home to three thousand free-roaming ibex. Declared as a National Park in 1978 it covers 97 Km of rolling grass hills forested valleys.

Muttupetty (13 Km/ 8 mile): Situated at a height of 1700m, Mattupetty is famous for its highly specialized dairy farm-the Indo Swiss Livestock Project. Over a 100 varieties of high yielding cattles are reared here. Visitors are allowed to three of the eleven cattle sheds at the farm. Visiting Time: 9.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. amd 2.00 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. Rate Rs. 5/- per head. Tel: 30389.

The Muttupetty lake and dam, just a short distance from the farm, is a very beautiful picnic spot.

Devikulam (15 Km/ 9 mile): This idyllic hill station with its velvet lawns, exotic flora and fauna and the cool mountain air offers a rare experience to visitors. The Sita Devi Lake with its mineral waters and picturesque surroundings is an ideal picnic spot.

Rajamallay (17 Km/ 10 mile): The natural habitat of the Nilgiri Tahr, Rajamala is 2695 m above sea level. Half the world population of this rare mountain goat, which is fast becoming extinct, is found here. The Nilgiri Tahrs are today reduced to small herds, found in the Eravikulam-Rajamala region.

Chithirapuram (10 Km/ 6 mile): With its sleepy little cottages, bungalows, old play grounds and courts, Chithirapuram still exudes an old world charm. Home of the Pallyvasal hydel power project, this hill town is also famous for its picturesque tea plantations.

Marayoor(40 Kms/ 25 mile): Famous for their hermitages Muniyaras & Sandalwood Forest.
